Project 2: Repetition, Photography, & the Grid

Project 2004

This design incorporates 12 images and utilizes the entire picture plane. It utilizes repetition by the choice in material (fabric) the orientation of the material (swirls) the fabric type (Silk Satin) placement of swirls (center), and size, however all photographs vary in color.

The grid that the photographs follow are all equidistant from each other in every direction, and follows the same border length from the edge of the bristol board. I attempted to create visual flow with the images using the color. I picked the warmest colors on the left, starting at the top, going down, then used colors and shades that were not quite as warm on the right.

This was the most unsuccessful part of this piece. I needed to play around with the orientation of the colors and looked into color theory a bit more. What was very successful about my design was the crafstmanship, even though the pencil I used damaged the paper if you look up real close. Not every photo that I cut was exactly perfect. A few were a bit off and I needed to pay more attention to that detail, but overall the neatness pleases the eye.
